Hey beautiful, today I am going to share with you an ingredient I have been using in my skincare journey to help me get rid of my acne scars and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I use this in combination with my hyaluronic acid serum. Read about the 11 BENEFITS OF HYALURONIC ACID FORALL SKIN TYPES.

What is Alpha Arbutin?

Arbutin is a natural derivative of hydroquinone which is extracted from different plant species including bearberries, cranberries e.t.c.

It is considered a tyrosinase inhibitor which works to improve skin tone and texture by preventing formation of melanin.

Alpha arbutin is a safer alternative to hydroquinone which brightens the skin without causing bleaching.

If you have sensitive skin, alpha arbutin is your best alternative because it is gentle on the skin.

How does it work?

Arbutin works as a tyrosinase inhibitor, an enzyme present in melanocytes (pigment producing cells). Every time your skin comes in contact with UV light, tyrosinase is activated and Alpha arbutin works to block this activation of tyrosinase.

Less tyrosinase activation, lesser pigmentation and dark spots.

Benefits of Alpha Arbutin

-Reduces and prevents hyperpigmentation.

-Reduces acne scars.

-Evens out skin tone.

-Reduces sun spots and age spots caused by over exposure to UV rays.

-Reduces appearance of melasma.

-It is gentle on the skin.

Can it be used every day? Yes it can. Use it twice a day after cleansing your face. Don’t forget to wear SUNSCREEN.
